The Art Works was established in 1989 by Fay Goodridge, who has been picture framing for the past 25 years in both art shops and galleries.
Fay takes a "less is more" approach to picture framing and offers creative solutions to all framing problems.
"We aim to provide a friendly, personal service, constructing hand-crafted bespoke frames from the finest quality materials.
"A frame made by The Art Works is intended to last a lifetime".
All the staff at The Art Works complete an in-house, old-fashioned apprenticeship and are chosen with their individual creative skills in mind.
We offer additional skills on top of a basic framing service, including cabinet making, City and Guilds qualified upholstery skills and gilding.
Our workshop is artist-run and artist-friendly, and we can offer a unique "design and manufacture" service for exhibition framing where a moulding becomes exclusive to a particular artist.
We find this service particularly appeals to galleries and artists requiring a high-quality and exclusive style of framing.
The Art Works also provides a complete restoration service of oil paintings and works on paper.
